Ice

Ice

That is what is in the forecast for tonight through Thursday. Snow doesn't bother me but ICE scares me. We've had times when we couldn't get in or out of our place for more than a couple of days due to ice storms.

I think two weeks of really bad weather is getting to me. Isn't spring supposed to be around the corner?

Uh Oh

Snow day...blizzard, winds, snow,...it ended on Sunday morning so I got out and played on the snow. My school finals ended on Saturday.

When I went to the ridge top on Sunday morning, there was no sign of our road. I of course took a picture of the mailbox which seemed to be the only indication of life. Thank goodness for snowshoes, they sure kept me on top of those 6 ft deep drifts.

This morning our woods were frosted with a fresh new 'frosting' of snow. It sure looks beautiful.

Take a hike...

The Man

I couldn't believe my ears when he said he'd take a hike with me! Well this was better than anything at all! I enjoy his company and we took a nice hike through the woods.
He patiently explained the tracks we saw in the snow. I think he was hoping to spot some deer but we had the dog with us and he probably made enough noise to scare anything off with his running back and forth. No, he didn't bark, but he did make noise tearing through the brush.

It was a complete day.

Happy Feet

Happy Feet

Every one should have Happy Feet. These were a gift from my Mother in Law's friend who thought I'd like something quirky. Little did she know that this was right up my alley! The slippers even bray like a little donkey when you squeeze them!

I've been working on schoolwork for days it seems. Today I turned in my lessons and plan on taking tomorrow off. I went to the 'beauty parlor' to get beautiful??? When I got home after delivering flowers to my MIL, my dear husband took me out to dinner.

On the way home he admitted that his mom called him and politely suggested that he take me out to eat!
Gosh I gotta love her!

Can you see the beast?

Morris wears orange.

We did go out for a nice long walk and Morris's silly looking orange sweater did help me keep track of him.

I had a wonderful long conversation with a woman today who is and endurance -- equine -- photographer along with a writer for horse magazines.
Boy howdy, did I get a lesson and encouragement. Not really on the photography side of things which is okay--but she did tell me that if a magazine wants to use a picture or an article that I should get $ for it! She even gave me a reference guide.
Even better, she has a mule that she rides!

So my day went from blah to pretty nice really. I had a wonderful walk with Morris and a good afternoon doing articles for Mules and More, along with a phone chat...
and then my A&P lab experiment on digestion. [Wow, interesting, eh?]

Leave me be...

Exactly how I feel today. Some days are like that. Can I just be alone without anyone bothering me? I don't want to cook, clean, do homework, or even be NICE. I've run out of nice.

Maybe I just need to get out in the woods and see if I can whup up some nice?
Maybe me, Morris, and the snowshoes will take Mr. Camera for a hike. I can put Morris in his silly day glow orange sweater I bought for him so I can keep track of him in the snow!
Sounds like a plan!
Adios!

The path less traveled by...

Snow Tracks

Winter is beautiful and this is a time for change. I'm staying at two places, if you've followed my blog, I won't bore you with details.
I've learned so much over the past few months. I've learned a great deal from my MIL.
I'm looking for a new job. I'm looking for a new career, and looking forward to spring.
My school load was light this week so I've done my taxes, updated my FSFA student loan information, redone my resume, and got paperwork set up for an internship with a clinic next year.
I filed a Work Comp claim for a 'dorsal wrist ganglion cyst' that is giving me one hell of a pain in typing.
My boss wasn't pleased, but let me file. He did wonder out loud if this cyst would interfere with me getting another job.
HMMMM?
He's finally figured out that I'm not happy there?

I feel like a kid again with so many possibilities facing me!

Weather Announcement

Weather Announcement

Today was canceled due to dangerous winds and subzero temps. I spent the day happily indoors except for one small excursion outside.

-22° and gusting winds up to 30 mph made travel down right stupid, so I stayed put.

Tonight is balmy. Only -13°, perhaps my town will re-open tomorrow?

Thanks Liz and Rachel for stopping by while I was away at 'school' this weekend. I spent the weekend with MIL doing household chores and helping bake a yummy cake!
It was -10° all day, even the Amish horsies didn't want to start I guess because none of the Amish neighbors went by on their way to church.
As I write this it is already around -17°. It didn't feel that cold when I walked from the shed to the house.

Oh was the moonlight ever beautiful on the snow! The snow squeaked beneath our feet as we walked to the house. Hubby and I had supper with 'mom' and watched the superbowl. Big party, all three of us!

I've been doing my assignments for school and have done everything for this week!
I did my taxes today.
I cleaned a house.
I did laundry.

I used ice and some pain meds and now I'm ready for bed. I sure don't want to get up in the morning and face the Monday morning blahs. I had such a peaceful weekend.

Bang boom crash...

How can one small little 15 lb doggy be so treacherous? How can he cause so much damage?

In the short. I was coming down the stairs with a load of laundry and other things in my arms, when I stepped on Morris, tried to compensate, then crashed!

I flung out my right arm to catch my fall. I have succeeded in straining my right arm from the armpit to my elbow.
Talk about pain. Ever feel like passing out and tossing your cookies? Well yep that is how I felt.
Wonderful hubby is toting ice and wants to take me to ER. But I say give her a day or two probably just a strain. I just hope it doesn't trigger problems like it did to the left side. And we all know that horrible saga.

Well the day is -2° and windy. My truck is getting a 'bra'. I am supposed to be sitting and reading.
I want to be outside but to tell the truth, today I hurt way too much.

Okay done with the whining.
I know I can join the circus now, I could be the crash boom bang lady!

Freezing cold--Love it!

I love to walk in the woods. I even like it much better since I have snow shoes. I can get around much better than I thought I would. Morris has been enjoying our walks and as soon as he sees me grab the camera, he gets frantic.
The other day he got so cold he was literally quaking! So I picked him up and stuffed him inside my jacket until his feet warmed up.
Then he was 'good' to go again. Ever the energetic Jack Russell--ahem except when he gets back from the walks, then he occupies the couch, and the rug in front of the heater.

Out and About

Or should we call it Beauty [the dog] and the Beast [me]. We got out for a nice hike today. This is supposed to be the warmest we'll get this week! Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to have highs of 1° and some pretty furious winds. I DO know that wearing snowshoes really did help and boy did we get to see the sights. I saw deer and this time actually got pictures of them. I got down to the creek and took photos using my tripod while dear Morris found bones from dead raccoon to chew on. [Yuck] I think it was a fairly wonderful morning.
My homework is done, I had a good nite's sleep at home, and had a great hike.

Life could hardly get better than this!
